It’s a trend we see on all sorts of sites these days, Oversized text fields in web design. Tumblrs massive 28px text login fields take this to the extreme, but Google has jumped on board with a slight bump in size to their formerly “normal sized” search field. It seems overdue for Google Search to have only adopted this trend last Wednesday – but they finally did. The minimal Google Search page is all about putting the focus on the thing Google does best, SEARCH. With their newly enlarged search field box they highlight this point even more.
